Tips to Help you Stay Motivated in your Home Business

Many people think about how wonderful it would be to give up the daily commute and become home-based entrepreneurs. While this can be a very rewarding choice because it allows you spend more time with your family, it is fraught with challenges as well. Here are some tips to help you stay motivated in your  home business.

1. Set up a schedule of regular business hours.

Simply because you happen to be at home, it doesn't mean that you are on duty as a homemaker, chauffeur or for any other function that is not related to your business. Set up a schedule when you are working on your business and stick to it, even if you only have a limited amount of time available.

2.  Designate a portion of your home as your work space.

If you can't set aside a specific room in your home, at least have a desk or other surface that you use only for business purposes. Train yourself to focus on your business during the time you are in your "office." It can be tempting to take a few minutes to look after a few household chores simply because you are home or the clutter is getting to you, but if you want to stay motivated in your home business you will need to devote a regular effort to making it a success.

3. Set goals and track your progress.

When you started your business, you did so with a specific idea in mind. Maybe you wanted to spend more time with the people who are most important to you or you wanted to experience the personal satisfaction that comes with steering your own ship.

The difference between a goal and a wish is that a goal has a series of steps to help you accomplish it. Take your ultimate goal and break it down segments. Write each one down on your calendar and as you completed each step, put a mark beside it showing that it's done to help you stay on track and motivated in your home business.
