Advice to a young person starting out in a direct sales business

* Before you decide on a direct sales company to represent, make sure you like the products. The products have to  be something you would buy even if you were not a distributor. Why do you have to like the products, you may ask? Well, you need to be enthusiastic about what you sell.

* Interview likely sponsors. You don't want to sign up under the first person that tells you about your company of choice. Interview all likely sponsors, ask questions. Find the right person.

*Commit to your business for at least one full year. Starting a new business is difficult and needs lots of patience, focus, determination and discipline.

*Ask for help. I hear the same complaint all the time, "my sponsor doesn't help me". My question is, "did you ask for help?". You owe it to yourself and your business to ask for help and if your sponsor cannot help you for some reason, you go higher upline until you find someone who can answer your questions. If your company provides training materials, you should make time to study them.

* Do something everyday that will benefit your business. You could give out catalogues,samples, business cards,etc. Don't be the person who always thinks about doing something, rather be the one that actually does something.

* Write down your goals.

* Most of all, have faith. Quitting is easy, but if you stay the course, you will reap fantastic results..
